We find perfect solutions for the pain points in people’s living experiences. These clients had decided to rebuild their relationship with their house through some redesign therapy. Their house was neatly nestled in an older Barrie neighbourhood, and since this was a complete redesign and rebuild, they decided to take the Modern and Contemporary Style approach toward their new home.
They wanted simple geometry with impactful proportions. The clients were looking ahead to the future toward retirement, so they wanted just enough living space but a whole lot of garage space for the husband’s hobbies. Their wishes were our commands.
First thing’s first, we made sure the garage had all the bells and whistles the client needed to look after and preserve his collection of cars and motorcycles.
The clients had already seen our work and loved it, so our reputation preceded our talent. The design of ours they had liked was built using insulated concrete form blocks, so we took our cues from that. The exterior finishes to their house included stone, stucco, and fibre cement panels.
The inside has high ceilings with expansive roof overhangs through the entry and great room, in which we designed a custom stone finished linear gas fireplace.
Sometimes our clients bring their own creativity and skills to the table, and we welcome that. We worked with this homeowner to design a high-efficiency mechanical system, which radiated heat through the house.
The biggest issue with their old house was a wet basement. The clients loved their house but having a flooded basement year after year was taking its toll on that love.
We recommended severing themselves from the issue: the basement. Our renewed and rejuvenated design concept focused on using the plenty of room their double-wide lot gave to accommodate all their needs.
Every single day we walk into the house we are thankful of such a amazing, comfortable and useful space. I would highly recommend the team at Sketch.
