Our design philosophy is that the client comes first. We don’t just say it; we also practice it. That’s why it was a perfect fit when this project came to us. The clients had a beautiful waterfront wooded lot nestled on a large estate on Kempenfelt Bay.
They wanted to live luxuriously with the master bedroom having his and hers walk-in closets and separate bathrooms that we delivered within the same suite.
The couple was looking forward to using their estate to host family and friends so an open-concept kitchen with a custom copper range hood was ideal. For a rustic feel, we designed a continuous vaulted ceiling from the entrance through to the great room and out over the covered porch in the back.
The fully finished basement gave them more room to entertain, workout, meditate, or just relax.
Thinking ahead toward retirement, we also built a nanny suite above the garage.
To reach their ideal home vision, we had to cut through a lot of wood. However, the Town of Innisfil has stringent tree removal rules.
The clients were looking to get out of the city and start their journey in a Statehouse Style property on the water. Part of the reason to be in fresh air was the breathing issues one of the clients had. She was also sensitive to gas fumes due to her asthma.
To satisfy the municipality, we thoroughly studied its bylaws and prepared an acceptable compensation plan in lieu of the downed trees.
To make sure the client’s health wasn’t affected, we design everything using natural materials and low on volatile organic compound substances, such as sealants, adhesives, and cleaners. We made sure all the materials inside were green and eco-friendly. We stayed away from using any glues in the sub-floors or hardwood.
